Winter Extravaganza
Come see what we’ve been working on. Join us as we get in the holiday spirit as only we know how–with lots of taiko! The Fundamentals class will be performing a brand new song, the Styles class will be demonstrating the power of taiko and the members have fun ways to show how we learn and explore the art of taiko.
Suggested donation of $10 at the door. Bake sale and light reception to follow.
Have you seen taiko performed and thought “I want to do that!” Do you like booming drums, using your body and having fun? Do you enjoy rhythm, movement and teamwork? Odaiko New England is offering an introductory taiko workshop which is the perfect opportunity to try your hand at taiko. Our workshops are great for beginner players, even those with no musical background at all.
New drummers learn taiko fundamentals such as kata (form), kiai (vocalization) and kumidaiko (ensemble drumming). Using your entire body to learn and play a song, explore first-hand the mesmerizing, heart-pounding power of taiko. Come ready to move: wear comfortable clothing and bring water. Ear plugs are also highly recommended.
No experience is necessary! ONE brings enthusiastic and encouraging instructors and all necessary drums and equipment. Participants bring plenty of energy, spirit, and joy!
To register, complete and mail the registration form with your $35 class fee. Group discounts are available if arranged in advance. Please email [email protected] or call 781-938-DRUM (3786) for details.
For more information about this workshop or about ONE classes email [email protected] or phone 781-938-DRUM (3786).
Oshogatsu, a festival welcoming the New Year, is one of Japan’s most important annual festivals. Join us at the Children’s Museum to celebrate 2014, the Year of the Horse. Following our performance will be a shi-shi-mai (lion dance) and parade with taiko accompaniment.
今年もよろしくおねがいします
The performance is free with admission to the museum. We will be performing twice during the day. The times are TBD but will be in the afternoon. For more information, please visit The Boston Children’s Museum event calendar.
We are very sad to announce that this workshop has been canceled due to unfortunate circumstances. Preregistration money will be refunded.
