The event is an all weekend long event, but Odaiko New England will be performing in Independence park throughout the day on Saturday Aug 12th.

Odaiko New England will be doing an opening demonstration along with Jennifer Weir before a screening of her documentary “Finding Her Beat”.
 
This documentary shows the paths and struggles that female professionals take when pursuing taiko drumming, an art form that historically has been dominated by and only allowed for male drummers.
 
Featuring: Tiffany Tamaribuchi, Kaoly Asano, Chieko Kojima, Megan Chao-Smith, and Jennifer Weir

Celebrate Kyoto – Boston Children’s Museum @ Boston Children's Museum

Odaiko New England is proud to be part of the programming for “Celebrate Kyoto!”, celebrating the 65th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Boston and Kyoto.

This is a two day event at the Boston Children’s Museum. Museum tickets must be purchased to attend the event. The full event schedule will be available at https://bostonchildrensmuseum.org/

Join us on Saturday for a taiko workshop great for children where we will teach how to make taiko drumsticks called “Bachi” out of newspaper and decorate cardboard taiko drums.

Boston Dragon Boat Festival

Boston’s Dragon Boat Festival transforms ancient traditions into an exciting cultural event and is the longest-running dragon boat festival in North America. Odaiko New England is thrilled to once again send some thunderous drumming across the Charles River toward the Boston-side races.

The Cambridge-side festival starts at 12:00 noon and admission is free. Odaiko New England performs at 4:30 pm.
